Check out our fleet of charter fishing boats at Lord Howe Island.The following definitions will help you to decide what area(s) of Lord Howe's complex and exciting fishery you would most like to explore, and which of our boats to do it on.
GAMEFISHING: Basically chasing the big ones, 15 to 500 kgs, Billfish, Large Tuna, Wahoo, and the big Kings. Light [1 to 10kg], Medium [15 to 37kg], Heavy [60kg], or Fly, choose your tackle. Choose your boat!
DEEP REEF: More to do with an area than a specific range of fish. Fishing in 60 to 200 metres of water for all sorts of bottom dwellers. A real lucky dip with everything from monster kings to smaller [but delectable] table species. This is the place for the jigging fans! CLOSE COASTAL: Fishing the fringes of the coast and the close offshore islands. Water depths in the 15 to 30m range, fish mostly in the 2 to 15kg range, and water so clear that you can watch them swallow your hook. Spinning, light tackle, and Fly enthusiasts apply here! LAGOON: 5cm to 5m of water, gin clear, and calm. The lagoon isn't an alternative for when the weather is bad, it's a fishing experience not to be missed! The fish may be mostly in the 1 to 5kg range but they fight well above their class! 36 foot twin diesel, custom built for Island conditions. "Belle" is a comfortable boat with an all round view and plenty of shelter in the airy wheel house. Due to her open layout, large cockpit, and economical operation, "Belle" is particularly suitable for larger fishing groups and operates well CLOSE COASTAL, DEEP REEF, or Medium Tackle GAMEFISHING.

14 foot outboard powered Stessl punt. Customized to provide the perfect platform for fishing in the clear, calm waters of our lagoon. Fast enough to travel the length of the lagoon in under 10 minutes, and with a maximum 2 anglers, our minimum 3 hour charter offers plenty of fishing at a very reasonable cost. So many people make the assumption that fishing in the Lagoon is all about garfish or mullet, or something you do when it's too rough outside. How wrong could you be! Just ask Rex Hunt what it's like to tackle a 10lb Double Header, or ask our many regular clients what it's like to try and stop big trevally or drummer on a 10 weight fly rod in 2 feet of crystal clear water.

CONDITIONS for all boats: All Rods, Reels, Flys and Lures are supplied, but on a "lose it, break it, replace it" basis. Lunches and soft drinks supplied on full day charters. G.S.T. included in all prices. Charter Boats are allowed to sell their catch here, and many of our competitors release nothing and sell your catch. While we reserve the right to sell any of the catch excess to your own requirements, we encourage release where possible and will happily prepare the catch for your own consumption. |
